Rochester Branch NAACP: 42 years of making democracy work

Mission
To support the National Objectives.
To support the residents of the City and County in the
pursuit of equity of treatment.
To collaborate with other organizations to promote fairness,
awareness, and appreciation for our collective differences, similarities, and
contributions.
Goals of the Rochester Branch
- Encourage and support equity in educational opportunities and resources
- Encourage and support recruitment and retention of minorities by in industry, schools, institutions, and government
- Receive, refer, and follow up on complaints of racial discrimination
- Work cooperatively with the media to increase multiracial understanding, as well as awareness of the adverse effects of racial and cultural discrimination
- Support and mentor the youth of the community
- Provide a Speaker’s Bureau as a resource to the community
- Coordinate events and speakers for the Martin Luther King holiday
- Arrange programs and speakers for Black History Month, upon request
- Collaborate with and support local organizations and initiatives that align with the Branch’s mission
- Organize the Freedom Fund Banquet
